MIA HEIMAN DESIGN

Mia was born and raised in Tranås in the south of Sweden, in a town where furniture design and manufacturing was the lead employer. Her favorite hobby from the age of six was studying a book of house plans from a local architect. She started drawing her own floor plans, complete with furniture, people and horses and hasn’t stopped creating since that day. She graduated from the Academy of Art in San Francisco, splitting her time between the Interior Architecture program and Industrial Design, where she focused on furniture design.  In her career she has played an imperative role in designing beautiful and highly functional spaces from small furnishing projects to ground up estates in the US. In addition, she designs furniture and accessories for major lifestyle companies. Her passion for craftsmanship and honest materials brought her back to Scandinavia in the spring of 2020, to raise her children and infuse her creations with inspiration from the beautiful archipelago of Hvaler in southern Norway.
